How do we encompass everything we know and love about the city of Boston and its tech, VC, and entrepreneurial community in a single website?
This was the welcome challenge presented to us when NEVCA asked us to design a site that would help them showcase Boston as a vital entrepreneurial hub. Our friends at NEVCA set out to create an authentic digital representation of the local VC and startup community, and highlight Boston as a destination for new ventures. Here’s the end product that Fresh Tilled Soil designed in working with NEVCA on this project:
- The work/play toggle at the top of the page allows the user to flip quickly between the professional and playful sides of Boston
- An interactive map will continue to grow to show hot spots like accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, and (perhaps most importantly) coffee shops.
- The background video scenes were shot by the Fresh Tilled Soil team, and this content can easily be swapped out as the seasons change.
- Photos in the ‘Culture’ section will be crowdsourced from you, the local Boston tech and startup community, to make for a real and current gallery of people and events.
NEVCA launched the site yesterday in coordination with their NEVY Awards Event, which a few of us enjoyed thoroughly, evinced by this photo from the red carpet:
