Calling All Boston Designers: Come To Portfolio Review Night 2012

by Alex Stetson

We were honored to have Behance reach out to one of our UI Designers, Mark Grambau, and ask if Fresh Tilled Soil was interested in hosting the Boston Portfolio Review this year.  We took no hesitation in accepting!

Fresh Tilled Soil is co-hosting our first-ever Portfolio Review Night on October 29th, from 6-8pm, with Design Museum Boston! We have a suitably beautiful and inspiring space for the event at the Mass Challenge office, which offers stunning waterfront views from the 14th floor of One Marina Park Drive, Boston (with convenient garage parking and T access.)

What’s Portfolio Review Night all about?

Every year, Behance has a Design Portfolio Review Week, an event now hosted by design leaders and attended by design professionals in most major cities across the U.S.– NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc.  Design professionals and creatives across industries are invited to attend and share in reviewing their creative portfolios with peers.  While Fresh Tilled Soil’s expertise is in web and mobile design, we are welcoming designers across industries– from web design, to multimedia to print to photography, to join us for this event and share their work.

This event provides designers with a unique opportunity to meet others with shared expertise and discuss latest design trends, artistic techniques, and join in a larger conversation with a community of Boston design professionals. Whether you are looking for work opportunities, design inspiration, social networking, or plain old honest feedback and constructive criticism, Portfolio Review Night can offer it to you.

Event Schedule:

We’ll kick off the evening with a brief welcome and intro from FTS and Design Museum Boston, after which attendees will break down into small groups, divided by industry, to discuss their portfolio work.  Everyone is encouraged to bring what they need to share their portfolio– iPads, laptops, physical portfolios, etc.  We’re currently waiting to hear from you, Boston designers, on what kind of design work you have to share and discuss.  If your area of interest is not already part of our portfolio review agenda (posted here on our event registration page,) let us know what type of design portfolio review group you want to be part of by posting on the event meet up page here; once there are 5 or more others who share your interest in this topic, we’ll assign a group review leader and add the review group to our official event agenda, listed out on the Boston Portfolio Review Night official registration page. So far, we’ve got review groups in the areas of: Web & Mobile Design, Design & Front End Development, Print Design, Illustrative Design, and Industrial and Exhibit Design. (If you’re interested in leading up a review group on a new topic, email me at alexs@Freshtillledsoil.com.)

We’ll be wrapping up the event with some networking and cocktails, provided by our sponsors, Deep Eddy Vodka and Cape Ann Brewing Co; tickets are $7 a person, which includes cost of drinks.

To Register for Portfolio Review Night, visit our official event page, or click the banner image at the top of this post-– space is limited, so don’t wait!  Looking forward to seeing you there.
